A colleague of mine who just got retrenched was someone who previously gives talks on stock investing....Pretty knowledgable I feel. He gave some advice on investment which I found was quite beneficial.
He was telling me the stock market has ups and downs, and you have to have the experience and judgement so that you always win in this zero-sum gain.
I think in some sense he's correct.....stock market is a zero sum game only if you're a speculator that's hopping for some short term quick profit. However, the pie expands in the long term because the business is expected to make money and this in turn generates dividend
